Indian weddings have it all ..as opposed to anywhere else its got color, style, fashion and lots and lots of drama. The dream wedding preparations are started by the families by the time a girl reaches puberty perhaps ..for some it would be a mission to get the daughter married in a way society deems fit !
Well being 24 year old malayalee girl from a quiet orthodox family means time is running and you should be married soon, make it your mission !! well not just yours but everyone around you too. Everything else takes a back seat while you and your dear ones go through the turmoil of finding a suitable spouse.
Now finding a spouse is not as easy as it should have been ..its not boy likes girl and girl likes boy !! it goes the way Chetan Bhagat put it and i could def not do it better ..boy likes girl..girl likes boy...boys family likes girl ..girls family likes boy ..and the families like each other ..so on and so forth..
The ideal boy or girl has a lot to live up too ..overnight we need the ducklings (ugly or otherwise ) to turn to swans and grooms with ability to afford so many things yet shouldn't be too old !
The whole period is of intense emotions ranging from sheer joy to rock bottom lows.Does it snatch away the whole joy of marriage?
I am ofcourse no expert to comment much on the good and bads of this but having goin through it myself i feel that to put it bluntly we need to get away with this antiquated method of finding spouses. I would be wrong to say antiquated as the most modern methods of socializing are used now in conventional match making, thanks to matrimonial websites who are doing a good job, when i have nothing else to occupy myself going through pictures is what i love to do :P
but i still choose this and the way its going i can only say...
Getting married is more difficult then staying married i would like to believe !
In the meanwhile I do hope that prince charming brings a shoe that fits this cinderella !
